Lavender Glaze with Floral Notes (Printable)

Delicate floral glaze infused with lavender for topping baked goods

# What You Need:

→ Lavender Milk

01 - 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
02 - 1/4 cup whole milk or dairy-free alternative

→ Glaze Base

03 - 2 cups powdered sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice, optional

# Directions:

01 - Combine milk and dried lavender in a small saucepan. Heat gently over low heat until just steaming, not boiling. Remove from heat and steep for 5 minutes.
02 - Strain the milk through a fine-mesh strainer to remove lavender buds. Let the infused milk cool slightly before using.
03 - Whisk powdered sugar with 2.5 to 3 tablespoons of lavender-infused milk in a mixing bowl. Add lemon juice if using. Whisk until smooth and pourable.
04 - Add more milk to thin or more powdered sugar to thicken until desired consistency is reached.
05 - Drizzle or spread glaze over cooled baked goods. Allow to set for at least 10 minutes before serving.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • The way lavender transforms plain desserts into something that feels like a tiny vacation
  • How quickly it comes together when guests are already knocking at your door
02 -
  • Overheating the milk makes the lavender taste bitter and soapy instead of floral
  • Sifting your powdered sugar first prevents those tiny lumps that ruin the silky finish
03 -
  • Start with less milk than you think you need since powdered sugar varies by brand
  • The glaze sets faster on cold baked goods so plan your timing accordingly
